About this tool

This calculator covers the three questions people ask about percentages most often: what a percentage of a number is, what percentage one value represents of another, and how much a value has increased or decreased in percentage terms. Every result updates instantly as you type, so you can check several numbers in a row without reloading the page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate a percentage of a number?
Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. For example, 20% of 150 is (20 ÷ 100) × 150 = 30. The first calculator on this page does this automatically.
How do I find what percentage one number is of another?
Divide the part by the whole and multiply by 100. For example, 30 is (30 ÷ 150) × 100 = 20% of 150.
How is percentage change calculated?
Subtract the original value from the new value, divide by the original value, then multiply by 100. A negative result means a decrease.
